We worked with Jess from Details Made Simple and we couldn’t have asked for a better day of coordinator! She was really on top of keeping up with all of the tasks that led up to the wedding. We really appreciated how she would follow up with us frequently to make sure that we stayed on track and kept her informed on what we needed help with and how she could be able to assist. The best part of working with her was her calmness throughout the entire process. It really put us at ease because it showed how she definitely did have everything under control. Jess went above and beyond and helped us with small projects that brought our wedding to life. For example, she offered to create ceremony program fans for us which we at first did not consider doing because of the time they took to make. She made the suggestion, we bought the materials, she picked them up and created a lovely addition for our ceremony! One other thing that we valued was that she kept our budget in mind when recommending vendors and services. This was very beneficial to us because although we weren’t on a super tight budget she still helped us save a lot of money that we otherwise would have spent on services and vendors who we weren’t sure about. She also met us in person several times to visit venues, discuss details and offer any advice that we may have needed. This truly helped us build trust in our working relationship with her and made us feel extremely comfortable with her work. Most of our vendors were booked and for the day-of coordination we figured we would just have a friend or family member help. But a few months before the wedding a number of wedding tasks were adding up, I was leaving for a trip, and I needed a second opinion of someone more experienced. We decided a day of coordinator would help ease some of the stress. I was in between two companies. One was pricier however I knew of friends who had used them (which had been key in picking our vendors), the other (details made simple) was more within our budget but I wasn’t aware of anyone who had used them. I spoke to one of my best friends about my dilemma, and as soon as I said the name Carla, she said that was her coordinator and she was amazing! That was all I needed to hear. The day of the wedding was perfect and everything felt like it went off seamlessly. I’m sure not every single thing went as planned however I never felt that way or I never knew about it, which was key. Carla made sure everything kept moving and all the little/big things we needed were done. She spoke and coordinated with all the vendors. She was so nice and pleasant with everyone. Everyone from our bridal party to relatives to guests took note of how amazing she was in pulling this altogether when our wedding had many different moving pieces. She was just one person but honestly I think she worked and hustled harder than some of the wedding coordinating companies that have teams of 4 or 5 people. She has a calming effect and I think the one of the main reasons I was not stressed at all on my wedding day was because I knew Carla had everything handled and we were in good hands. I cannot say enough good things about Carla and number of people have already asked me about her just by observing her in action. I would recommend Carla and Details Made Simple to any bride, probably one of the best decisions we made!

We got married in Philadelphia this spring. As thrifty people planning their own atypical wedding, we were both trying to cut costs but also needed help. Working closely with Kim was amazing and was essential to our pulling off what ended up being an awesome wedding. With her wealth of experience and insight, we were able to figure out all the details big and small that had eluded us for so long. Partly through my wedding planning process, I realized that I was out of my mind and kidding myself if I didn’t coordinate the help of a professional. I searched “Day of Coordinators” in northern NJ, and the stellar reviews of Details Made Simple prompted me to contact the company. Shortly thereafter, I received a message from Kim Martir; she and I scheduled a call to discuss my event. Kim spent SO much time with me on the phone understanding my event and my needs, and she was just so comprehensive and full of advice. She was so kind and funny on the phone, and I thought that if she’s that thorough to someone who she’s just consulting who hasn’t even committed to her services, I can’t imagine how wonderful of a Day of Coordinator she would be.
Without a doubt, the best money I spent on my wedding is having Kim and DMS part of my day. Leading up to the event, Kim and I did a walk through of the venue, spoke on the phone, and emailed/texted a ton; she was always available and her accessibility is exactly what you want when you’re trying to coordinate a big event. Words can’t describe just how much Kim and Jess – the second Day of Coordinator – helped me and how much stress of mine they relieved by being so organized and on top of their games. Even at the church rehearsal – which Kim didn’t necessarily have to help me with – I was digging through my emails and couldn’t find something I needed; I was getting frustrated and finally just texted her asking her to resend it to me. Within a minute she had already sent it to me! It’s things like that that reinforce how much of a help she was, and I honestly can’t imagine not having her involved. On the day of the wedding, she and Jess were there to coordinate vendors, the bridal party, family members, and just about everything else. They also took on the probably annoying role of fielding questions all night; anytime someone came up to me, I had the luxury of just pointing them in Kim’s and Jess’s directions and they were more than happy to help and take on the responsibility. Both were so wonderful, and I honestly felt selfish and spoiled asking them for so many favors and them happily agreeing. Kim has such a kind demeanor and a nice personality that it was sincerely like having my friend help me out with my wedding. At the end of the night, she packed up all of the stuff that was mine and had it ready for me to go.
Perhaps not everyone requires a coordinator, but if you are even considering one, the amount of time you can spend focusing on enjoying your big day is far increased by having someone like Kim or Jess by your side sorting out all of the details. I couldn’t have been happier with DMS and would recommend them without hesitation. As lame as it sounds, I’ll miss Kim and working with her!!

Michele, you beautiful girl. You were my main contact person during the planning stages and I knew I could count on getting answers immediately from you anytime I had a question. The day of, you were even more accommodating, anytime I wanted to push something back or move something up, or anything I wanted, you were like a little magic genie and made it happen. You were everywhere – and so I also know that, without you, the wedding would have been very different. The problems we ran into (and are only the ones I knew about, not the ones that were taken care of that I didn’t even hear about) were only minor hiccups when they could have been far more disastrous, and I know it was because you were all over things.

I had a small-ish wedding (around 40 people), and I knew that on the actual day I wouldn’t have any time to manage anything. I also had less than 2 months to plan it (crazy, I know). I reached out to Details Made Simple, and was assigned to Carla, the owner, to have a coordinator for the wedding day. She immediately scheduled a time to meet in person, and made sure I wasn’t missing anything (I was missing a lot). Also she gave me some great tips for other things I could do to ensure the guests were entertained without spending too much money. Any emails I sent her, she responded very quickly and always gave me the confidence that everything would work out. She even met me another time at the venue with the caterer and the manager of the venue to make sure we were all on the same page. Whenever I would get overwhelmed with work and would lose track of what needed to be done, I would get a friendly email reminder from Carla, just to make sure I didn’t need anything. If I did, she took care of it immediately. I then sent her the contact info for all of my vendors (DJ, Caterer, Florist, Photographer, etc) and then she made sure they were all aware of the timeline we agreed upon and had her contact information in case of any questions. Many of the decorations were created by my mother-in-law (which was amazing) and with very minimal design/placement direction, Carla and her assistant were able to decorate the entire venue (a beautiful house in an arboretum) and it looked amazing. I don’t know how she did it, but she made it all work. I even forgot to order dessert for someone that had a bunch of food allergies. Carla was willing to jump in the car and pick something up, luckily she found an even quicker solution. All the guests were happy, my family was happy and most of all, the groom and I were happy. A bunch of my guests were stunned at how I was able to pull off this beautiful wedding with only 2 months of planning. My answer is Carla. <3 Renée

Kim Martir at Details Made Simple was absolutely AMAZING!!! I cannot possibly say enough good things about how helpful and responsive she was from our first contact! I used Kim as a day of coordinator and I have told so many people it was the best money I spent in my wedding planning and she was worth her weight in gold. She provided assistance/advice/insight on all my random questions about everything from my mom’s urgent need for a bra that worked with her dress to planning the ceremony to helping us have an unplugged ceremony to having umbrellas available when we thought it might rain to sewing on my husband’s suit button when he popped it off before we got to the ceremony (we called her from the car on the way there, she asked what color thread and met us as we pulled up, needle in hand) to making sure my dad had his dancing shoes ready to change into before our first dance. I was so grateful for our Skype meetings that helped ease my anxiety about the whole day. The week before, she confirmed with our vendors that everything would go according to plan and reached out to our venue regarding the timing of everything. On our wedding day, Carla was there organizing our processional, photo wrangling, making sure everything at our venue was set up correctly (a major help since our contact at the venue quit 2 weeks before our wedding), and just so much more. I had the pleasure of working with Shadé for my October 14th wedding at Place on the Lake. Working with Shadé was the best decision I could have made. She was incredibly knowledgeable, on-point, and so personable. The one thing that really stinks about my wedding being over is that I feel as if I lost a really good friend! I saw Shadé every month leading up to the big day; so it feels weird to not be driving up to Westfield to meet with her. I’m actually really sad!
A tip that I would give when working with Shadé is to be completely honest and open. There are no weird questions when working with her. No concern too taboo. She never made me feel stupid when I came to her with a concern or just a simple question on etiquette; which I appreciated since this was my first time…so I had no idea. You can only learn so much from reading The Knot! Also: I’m not really confrontational, so she was able to play the part of ‘bad cop’ for me when a vendor was trying to brush me aside and give me the short end of the stick.
Day-of she was a blessing. Everybody thought she was amazing – even my aunt who was completely against me hiring a wedding coordinator was amazed. Shadé was zipping around while my husband and I got to enjoy our day. She completely took the stress off of my husband and I – and also my mom and bridal party – so I really appreciated that.
Long story short, Shadé was a blessing to work with. If you’re looking for a young, fun, serious and knowledgeable wedding coordinator who goes above and beyond what is expected. Who is there to help guide you through every emotional spectrum expected of a bride-to-be (frazzled to relaxed), Shadé is it.

Details Made Simple = Weddings Made Awesome! After we realized that we could not adequately plan a wedding in Philadelphia when we lived in San Francisco, we realized we needed feet on the ground. We interviewed at least 10 coordinators. When we met Candice, we knew we had the right match. Candice was friendly, professional, yet firm–exactly what we needed when wrangling vendors, wedding party members, and unruly relatives. The DMS team was very clear about what they would offer. Once a week, from June until October, Candice would check in with us, following up to ensure that we were on task. She also reached out to our vendors, ensuring that they were on top of their tasks–including providing certificates of insurance and final balances. During the week of the wedding, I’m sure we talked to Candice more than I spoke to my mother (a huge feat, considering I was getting married in a number of days!). Candice created a timeline and revised it with us as necessary. She followed up with all of our vendors, making sure they knew where to go and when. She told all of the vendors to go through her for those pesky last-minute questions. She kept us very relaxed, and made sure that major and minor details were not forgotten! On the day of the wedding, Candice and her assistant April started their day checking in with me and my husband. She made sure that all of the reception decor was brought to the venue, and that it all arrived in one piece. She got the wedding parties to the venue (separately!) and made sure that the shuttles ran on time. She worked incredibly well with our on-site vendors: the venue coordinator, photographer, videographer, Photo Booth attendant, and DJ. If there was a crisis, I can tell you I know nothing of it. She coordinated the clean-up of the venue, and got the checks to the vendors. She did all of this while remaining calm with a big smile on her face. We were able to enjoy our wedding and the days leading up to it!

As a super budget conscious bride, I was really reluctant to hire a day-of wedding coordinator and only did so because my venue required it. But in retrospect, I am so very grateful that we got the opportunity to work with Shadé! Even though we had a relatively low-key event (comparatively speaking, of course) Shadé was always quick to respond the few times that we required her guidance prior to the event. DMS really does offer a great package of services for those with more traditional events. I did not realize how important a day-of wedding coordinator was until the day before our wedding when Shadé gave me a call to clarify where/when the photographer was supposed to show up. Despite our frequent communications with our photographer and multiple clarifications regarding the schedule, it turned out that there was still confusion surrounding the schedule and he was completely wrong about the when/where!! We only discovered this thanks to Shade’s due diligence in contacting our vendors and ensuring that everyone was on the same page. If not for Shadé, the photographer would not have shown up to capture the most important part of our day – our ceremony! There were so many moving parts that week (especially day-of) and I would have been absolutely devastated if our photographer had not shown up! That definitely would have ruined the day for me. Shadé was also an absolute dream through the entirety of our party that evening but really, by doing her due-diligence the day before, she saved our day. I am so very grateful to Shadé and DMS! If you’re cheap like me and need help justifying the expense, let me assure you that you cannot afford NOT to hire Shadé! She’s a superhero. <3 Thank you, DMS!!!

Candice’s services were exactly what we needed to make sure our day of was going to run smoothly. We went for the Peace of Mind package, and she surely delivered peace of mind! There were details that we hadn’t even thought about that she’d bring up and she’d always have solutions for things as well. I felt such relief after finally paying for her services and seeing the level of commitment and care Candice brings to the big day!
Another thing that was super important was her level of Responsiveness. She would respond to phone calls and e-mails within minutes…sometimes even within seconds! This kept things going and really helped us get to our big day with lots of stamina and knowledge about what’s to come. The only reason I gave a 4 out of 5 for Flexibility was because of other weddings that Candice had scheduled as a coordinator. That being said, we were just over 3 weeks away when I started working with Candice, so our time was limited and we were in the throes of wedding season. She still did everything in her power to make sure I felt like we were on a good track.
I waited a while to make the plunge for a day-of coordinator, but Candice’s services were worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY! If you are on the fence about it, I hope I can convince you to go for it. I cannot imagine what my wedding day would have been like without her. I have to imagine I would have been stressed/overwhelmed the whole time without her. Instead I got to enjoy my wedding and celebrate with my guests. It was just wonderful!

She came with us for walk throughs for both the church & reception- pointing out things & asking questions we would’ve never thought of. On the wedding day Kim simply blew us away. Every detail was taken care of. Even when something went wrong, she made it perfect without stressing us out. She literally took care of everything we needed & made the entire day perfect for us. She was like a personal assistant, event manager, wedding ninja & emotional body guard all rolled into one fantastically friendly, organized, & hilarious DOC. Before I found DMS, I had no idea what a day-of-coordinator was. Now, I would recommend that every single couple have one. It is the best decision you can make for your wedding!

The day of the wedding was just WOW, Carla and Jessica setup my INSANE amount décor in the venue (for which they only had about an hour to do so for a wedding of over 250 people) and it turned out beautiful!!! Despite that my venue had provided me a Maître D, I can it was truly Carla that was by my side throughout the entire day, if I needed something she grabbed it, if there was a problem she solved it (and honestly I didn’t even know there any problems until after the wedding lol), she was quick, efficient and best decision I made for wedding! One of my bridesmaids who had recently gotten married, had commented to me that she wished she had hired a Day of Coordinator, even one half as good as Carla for her wedding, because she saw how much Carla did, how much stress she took off me as the bride, and how that enabled me to enjoy my own wedding.

Our venue went under new ownership, so that caused massive anxiety. She kept us calm through the changes. She constantly kept in contact with the new owners to ensure our day was successful.
She was unnoticed by most guests. She made sure our ceremony was beautiful – paces timed out perfectly, entrances and exits beautiful, and made sure opportune photos were taken. She fixed a florist mistake and made a boutonniere in a couple of minutes with flowers from our altar piece. She made special arrangements for a guest with Celiac Disease so the guest could still enjoy the night. She set up all of our decorations at the venue and made sure they looked amazing! And I’m sure there are a ton of other things that she did but I was kept unaware of these issues. Which is great, but now I can’t brag about how amazing she is!

Carla Friday was our Day of Coordinator for our wedding on 8.12.16 at the Primavera Regency in Stirling, NJ. I can’t emphasize how helpful Carla was before the wedding and the day of. My Maitre’d was so thrilled to work with her and said that she was on top of every detail and has never worked with a day of coordinator like her. The wedding was supposed to be outside and got moved inside due to a thunderstorm and Carla and the Maitre’d made sure everything was smooth and the ceremony was perfect. I spoke with a few different companies when looking for a day of coordinator for my wedding. Not onyl did I have a really great conversation with Kim but Details Made Simple offered more in their package than any other company I spoke with. Kim met me and my fiancée in the fall to check out our venue and then sat down with is to get to know us and understand our vision. She was in touch throughout our entire planning process. She helped me create to do lists, gave me advice, helped me track down linens and countless other things. She was always available by phone or email and we met two more times before the wedding. The florist, event manager and my mother all commented on how helpful, efficient and friendly she was in all of our meetings. She took notes and followed up with me afterwards. The day of the wedding she was terrific – personable and helpful and keeping us on track. I honestly don’t know what we would have done without her. I really didn’t worry about a thing the entire evening because Kim was on top of everything. From making sure the decor was setup properly, keeping us on a timeline, insisting I quickly cut the cake because I didn’t want to leave the dance floor, to packing up all of the decorations and gifts we needed to take home. I was on the fence for a while about whether to hire a day-of coordinator. Hiring Details Made Simple turned out to be the BEST decision I made in wedding planning. I worked with Jessica, and she was helpful even before the day of in allowing me to bounce ideas off of her, helping me keep organized, and even giving me a plan of attack for the wedding rehearsal.
On our wedding day, I really do not know what I would have done without her. Looking back now, it seems like everything went perfectly, impossibly smooth, because I didn’t have to deal with anything except getting ready, then enjoying myself. In reality, as is always the case, little things were popping up here and there but Jessica was putting out fires with grace and expertise before I even realized what was happening. She was also personally a pleasure to be around – especially on such an important day!
We also had the pleasure of working with April for a few hours. Our ceremony and reception were 40 mins apart, so Jessica stayed at the reception site to oversee decorating there while April came to the ceremony and made sure that everyone was pinned, tucked, fluffed, ready for their entrances, ready and waiting for pictures, etc.
Wedding planners of any sort in the Tri-State area are not cheap, but Details Made Simple had the best prices I found for day-of coordinators who were well-reviewed online. I can tell you now that if there is any way to stretch your budget, do it, and hire these girls. You will NOT regret it!

My longer review: I am a person who likes to be sure EVERY detail is taken into account (i.e. a bit of a control freak). When I entertain at home I like to make sure every guest is taken of and having a great time, usually forgetting that I should be enjoying the party as well! As many brides out there already know, you will get advice from everyone on just about everything the second you announce your engagement. The same happened for me, but as a control freak, I figured wedding planning would be easy and my wedding would go off without a hitch because naturally, I would be in control and taking care of all the details. And then, I received the best advice and was told to make sure I attended my wedding and did not “work my wedding.” I took that advice and found Carla and Details Made Simple. I emailed her for more information and she called me back almost immediately.
We chatted about the wedding, my vision, my need for everything to be perfect and when I hung up the phone I was already writing a check for the Peace of Mind Package; I assure you this was, by far, the best decision we made. We were married on June 11, 2016 and my wedding day was incredibly relaxing because Carla had it all under control. I worked with Jessica at Details Made Simple for my Day-of wedding planning services. At first I was a little wary about spending money for planning services for just one day, but after seeing what an amazing help Jess was on our day, it was one of the BEST investments we made for our wedding. First, Jess was not one of those day-of planners that just show up on your wedding day and “wing-it”. I met with Jessica multiple times (in addition to emails and calls) to talk about how the day should flow and all important details that should be taken care of. My wedding was very “logistics-heavy” (i.e. multiple locations, large bridal party and family, transportation, etc.), and Jessica made sure everyone was where they were supposed to be at the right time and that the day flowed seamlessly. Jessica took care of paying all of the vendors, dealing with unforeseen issues, and making sure by the end of the night that everything was taken care of.
I have pretty high standards, but Jessica honestly exceeded all of my expectations. My entire bridal party and family were extremely complimentary of Jess’s services and she took care of everything on my wedding day so that I had to worry about nothing. I really cannot say enough good things about my experience with Jessica, but in short, her services were invaluable (not to mention, that she is a pleasure to work with!). If you are on the fence about using a day-of planner, I would HIGHLY recommend Jess and the Details Made Simple team!

April planned the overall timeline of the day, communicated it to our vendors beforehand and managed it throughout the day. I didn’t worry about a single thing on the day of the wedding. All the vendors came on time, everything that needed to be set up, was, nothing was forgotten, no one came to me with questions, etc.. If there was anything that went wrong, I didn’t hear about it. So what did I have to do the day of the wedding? Get married and have a blast celebrating! I’m not really sure if there’s much more you can ask for as a bride. There is 1 thing that did go wrong on the day. 45 minutes before the ceremony we realized we left the marriage license at the hotel (15 mins away)! And of course I didn’t have a key to the room, oops. Without hesitating, April hopped in her car and got it for us. Not even sure how she got a key to our room, I guess she worked her magic! I’m so happy I had April to bounce ideas off of and coordinate our overall day. She helped make my dream wedding into a reality and I couldn’t have done it without her!

I decided to use Details Made Simple about one month before my wedding when I started to get overwhelmed with everything. I had met Candice at a Philly Bridal show earlier that year and decided to give myself a break. I wish I had made that decision earlier because she was so helpful pulling together last minute details and dealing with some of my other vendors that gave me last minute issues. She was professional and a comforting and calming presence which was so helpful. She was always reachable by phone and handled any requests or questions I had. I hired Candice from Details Made Simple to handle the day of coordinator service for our DIY wedding for 200+ people at my in-laws residence in New Hope, PA. While I did a majority of the wedding planning myself up until a few weeks leading up to the wedding, I cannot say enough to compliment the amazing job that Candice did in making our vision become an absolute reality. The day she saw our “venue”, she provided great feedback and suggestions on how to make our celebration really flow together. We knew then that we had absolutely made the right choice. Shanika was the absolute best! On my wedding day, she made sure that all of the details we discussed prior to were executed exactly how I wanted them to be. At the last minute, my ceremony had to be changed from outdoors to indoors and she made sure that I knew what was going on. Then she made sure that the venue’s staff switched everything around at the last minute and it looked great! If it wasn’t for her, my ceremony would have been outside in the rain, but she payed close attention to weather forecast that day. At the end of the night, she made sure that all of my item were packed away and brought to my car and she did not leave until my fiancé and I got into our car and left. Where do I even begin in explaining how great it was to have Carla there the day of my wedding. I was resistant to my daughter’s suggestion that we get a ‘day of’ wedding planner. Why spend the extra money? Well, I am so glad that I did. Carla is terrific – nothing seems to rattle her. She was more than ‘day of’. She was a source of referrals, suggestions and information during the whole year that we planned the wedding. She replied promptly, even in the middle of the night, to any and all our questions. She walked through the venue with my daughter, months before the wedding, pointing out and suggesting things to make the day run smoothly, while at the same time being respectful of the people working at the venue.
The week before, she called all our vendors to confirm the terms of the contract and their time of arrival.
The day of the wedding, she picked up lunch for the wedding party and came armed with her steamer. She then proceeded to steam all our dresses and helped us get dressed. She handled and reviewed the set up with the maître d, ran interference with all the vendors and checked up with us during the party to see if we were ok or needed anything. At the end of the night, she gathered all our stuff (programs, bags, photo booth album and accessories, etc and helped us pack up our cars. Possibly the best decision we made with our wedding was seeking out Details Made Simple and having Ashley help us pull everything together. As early as our first meeting with her, we were confident that she knew wedding coordination inside out and everything following that only served to prove this. I hired Carla as the week-of wedding planner for my wedding on June 20th. I would definitely recommend her. She made cute chalkboard signs for my chapel, helped with other crafts and confirmed all my vendors ahead of time. However, Carla really earns her value the day off of the wedding. Something will inevitably go wrong on your wedding day, and she is a pro at handling it. On my wedding day, my florist was late and did not set up the chapel as was planned. Carla jumped in and set it up, beautifully. She was also on-hand all day to make sure vendors were arriving as planned so my family wouldn’t have to. I had a very complicated wedding (multi-cultural event with two wedding ceremonies, many events and many different personalities) and she kept everyone on a tight timeline. Carla Friday and Ashley Bitten from Details Made Simple were my day-of coordinators for my big day and they were both a blessing. Hiring our wedding day planner Shade Coleman with Details Made Simple was the best decision that my husband and I made during our wedding planning process! We had a unique wedding in an old movie theater (Landmark Loew’s Jersey City) with an old Hollywood theme. I can’t even imagine how we would have pulled off our wedding without Michelle.
When I first met her, I was a ball of stress. I was trying to figure out everything at once and it was overwhelming. Michelle calmed me down. She told me that we would take it step by step. She directed me through the planning stages, which gave me huge peace of mind in the months leading to our wedding.
A couple week before the wedding, things got very hectic for me at work. Michelle made things manageable by making sure that our vendors were confirmed and planning out the precise schedule for the big day. A number of my vendors later commented that Michelle was very professional and “on top of it.”
On the day of the wedding, Michelle picked up my bouquets, got to the venue early, and started decorating. She had the brilliant idea to use hanging mason jars with candles to outline the perimeter of the pavilion where we held our reception. The effect was simply magical! It was also the cost-effective solution we were looking for.
The best part about Michelle is that SHE UNDERSTANDS BRIDES. She understands the immense pressure and completely unreasonable fear about everything going wrong that (I think) every bride will experience. Michelle stayed very positive and calm throughout the wedding day. If I had to make any decisions (for instance, whether to open more bottles of wine from the vineyard), she mentioned it in a way that kept me calm and collected. She was on the ball before I had the chance to worry about anything. She was also extremely thoughtful — complimenting me before I walked down the aisle, stopping at the sweetheart table to see if we needed drinks.

Best thing I did was hire Michelle! I just got married on Friday night in NYC at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers. I am an extremely organized person as is my mother. I heard about through my best friend who had used her for her wedding in July in NJ. I wasn’t sure if Michelle could do my wedding because I am not based in NJ. My mother, who is beyond organized herself, stated these exact words “If it weren’t for Michelle, I don’t know what we would’ve done.” There was so much planning that we did throughout the year that on the day of, you don’t want to worry about handing out tips, is the Table number 1 in the right spot, are the candles lit where they are supposed to be, is the sign for the ceremony in the right spot, did all of our items get packed up and brought back to the hotel, etc etc etc.
Michelle went above and beyond and I am not just saying this. She truly was professional, calming, and every time I turned around, there she was, making sure I was okay and things were getting done. She delivered all of our items to my husband’s sister’s apartment after the wedding so we did’t have to worry about it, she executed the picture list that she suggested we make for the photographer, she made sure I got food, she sewed the button on my dress in a matter of seconds…you name it, she did it.
My expectations were beyond met with her. Even though I live on Long Island, I will 100% be referring Michelle and her company to anyone that I know. I don’t know what I would’ve done if she wasn’t there on that day. My husband’s sister is an event planner and she said to me “Wow that girl is fantastic.”

I attended my brother’s wedding which was held at Chelsea Lighthouse. My sister in law told me she hired a day of event planner for the wedding so she would not have to worry about logistics. Where to begin?! Carla, our wedding coordinator, knocked it out of the park! We hired her for our wedding this past weekend, and she was a complete life saver. There is no way that I would’ve been able to get our special day up and off of the ground without her! Our farm wedding was completely DIY and she made that barn a beautiful venue that suited our personalities perfectly. I was an out of state bride who needed help near the wedding venue. My initial phone call with Carla, before I contracted her, was hours after I emailed her. Since I’m out of state, I only met with her once-during a holiday weekend nonetheless- before my rehearsal/wedding. She provides you a ton of helpful sheet to get organized (hint- USE THEM!). Carla was a total lifesaver at the rehearsal and helped organize everyone. She made the flow of the ceremony work- coordinating me in the limo, the priest, the music. We had a wedding at Sandy Hook, so aside from having the land, no other venue services were offered. We knew that we didn’t want a full-time planner because we were excited to have creative control over our big day. However, we soon recognized that while we had our vendors and visions, we had no way of putting it all together on the day of!
After much research, enter Details Made Simple. We were immediately swept off of our feet by Carla. Her focus was on offering help EVERY step of the way. We soon realized that we made the best decision ever hiring her! Lines of communication were always open when we asked tons of “what if” questions. She was solution-oriented, which helped turn down our stress levels tremendously. Additionally, she happily offered to tackle countless “to-do”‘s that were piling up; she shopped for wedding accents, printed menus and programs, handmade our guest bags…the list goes on. I rarely write online reviews, but Carla made such a personal, professional and detail oriented contribution to our wedding – I want other brides to know! I hired Carla for day-of services, but from day #1 she provided so much more. I gave her pages and pages of detailed notes on my vision. She executed on ALL of it. Michelle was incredible on the day of our wedding. I don’t know what I would have done without her honestly. She came and took on so much for me and told me to sit down and relax which I really needed to do! We threw our wedding at my parents farm so it was hard to hand over control but she was all for it and I’m glad that I did! My only regret is not having her stay for the whole evening ( we told her she could leave after the speeches) and the cake cutting was sorta lost in the night. Details Made Simple was one of those things that we didn’t know we needed until we met Shade’ Coleman. Hiring her was the BEST decision we made for our wedding. She was extremely professional and managed to keep me (the bride) calm during the entire wedding planning process. Through my bridezilla moments, Shade’ tirelessly worked to solve the issues and never once lost her cool. Not only was she a superwoman at her job, but we felt like she was a friend (and sometimes a therapist we could confide in. Shade was my day of wedding coordinator from Details Made Simple. I can’t say enough about how she took the stress of making sure every detail that I planned actually was implemented. After all, I spent a year creating each element of my big day but I didn’t want to be worried about which family member or bridesmaid had to stop enjoying the moment to help with all of the many wedding day tasks.
She came to the hotel where we were getting ready to check in on use and make sure we were on schedule. I originally only thought she would start her day at the church. I had the bouquets delivered to the bridal suite and I wanted to have letter charms tied to around the stems and Shade jumped right in and did that. Right then I know the day was in great hands. She also lugged tubs out of the hotel full of the ceremony items that I couldn’t deliver to the church before hand. That was a potential issue I didn’t realize would be one until the rehearsal the day before. I another example of how everyone needs a day of coordinator since these things pop up and you need someone trustworthy to handle them.
Once we were at the golf club Shade along with the help of her intern was hard at work getting all of my little details set up i.e. thumb print tree painting, sign in book, memorial candle with pictures, cocktail signs, directional signs etc.
One thing I wanted most was a send off. I wanted a glow stick send off since sparklers aren’t allowed in NJ. She made sure it started at 10:55 PM just as planned and all the guests had their glow sticks handed to them by her. This was the last moment of the wedding and I wanted it to go smoothly and I know getting all of my friends and family to gather at once and away from the dance floor wouldn’t have been easy but Shade was up to the challenge.
I highly recommend Shade and Details Made Simple! Trust me you need a day of coordinator and Details made simple is the best in the business.
From Brides Mom: A Day of Wedding coordinator was a gift I gave to myself – the Mother of the Bride. At the beginning I’m sure everyone else in the family thought this was a “luxury” but it soon became clear that Shade Coleman was a necessity. I checked her Linked In profile and I was very pleased to see that she is a Johnson & Wales University graduate, a school very well known for its hospitality major. We were pleased to see on the day of the wedding that Shade brought Tiffany, an intern who will graduate from Kean University and wanted real life experience. They both took care of absolutely everything and I was able to enjoy the wedding ceremony and reception to the maximum. Mothers, do yourselves a favor and invest in a a Day of Coordinator- you will end up thinking it was the best money you spent on your daughter’s wedding!
From Maid of Honor: As Maid of Honor and Meredith’s twin, I also would like to say invest in a day of coordinator. I was one of those people who thought this was a waste, and I thought why not use the money and invite more guests. Oh boy was I wrong! Not having to worry about ALL of my sister’s MANY little touches (which helped to create a very personalized wedding) was amazing! Believe me you don’t have have time to talk to your family and friends, and if I was helping to arrange the kid’s craft table, ensuring the band and centerpieces showed, I would’t have enjoyed myself as much as I did. As it was, the bridesmaid’s and I decorated the couple’s going away car, and I missed Meredith dancing with our grandpa, I only saw that moment in the pictures. If or more like WHEN I get married, Shade and team will be at my wedding along with Brian Kirk and the Jerks! Both made my sister’s wedding the BEST EVER!!!

Carla of Details Made Simple is Simply Amazing at Details!!!! If I could give more than 5 stars I would in a heart beat. From the start of planning I knew I wanted to be a D.I.Y. bride. He expressed that Carla, however, was by far the best he had ever worked with. He said to me that he appreciated her professionalism as well as her rapport not only with himself but with the other vendors and guests as well. He also said he could tell she was genuinely a good person and cares about her clients, which I one thousand percent agree with. In fact, many of my vendors have praised Carla and Details Made Simple.

I tend to be a control freak so to give control over to someone else is a hard thing for me to do, especially when it’s my wedding.I can say without reservation that I confidently gave all control over to Carla that day. I worked with Shadé and purchased the VIB Package. I am still getting compliments about her from people who were part of my wedding. I decided to get married at a new venue, which has its fair share of ups and downs and unknowns, but it’s one way to ensure I didn’t have a cookie-cutter wedding. I definitely needed someone on hand to make sure that the little things important to me were going smoothly despite all the craziness of picking a new place. I probably only hired her less than 3 months before the wedding, but she was fielding so many calls/texts/emails from me, giving advice and meeting me plenty of times throughout the process that I feel like we have known each other for much longer at this point. Anyway, Shadé was a much-needed extra set of hands for us and I felt like there were really no limits with her. She printed our escort cards and made signs for the ceremony and reception. We didn’t ask for the latter but they were definitely a good idea! She made sure my parents and I had everything we needed packed aside for after the wedding and didn’t leave the venue until we did, for example. When one of our groomsmen left his wallet in his tux pocket (he lives in Hawaii and we are in NJ), she went through all the bags for us and met us as soon as we could get to a central location. She was professional throughout and really loves what she does!

Shadé Coleman was my day-of-coordinator at my wedding on September 1st. From the very beginning, she was very organized and kept in contact. I chose to have a coordinator because working full-time and going to school, I didn’t know if I would have maintained my sanity to run my wedding. I purchased the Very-Important-Bride Package that included a little bit of planning help. Before the wedding, Shadé looked at my contracts and offered suggestions for different vendors. During the rehearsal, she was able to organize the group and create a nice order of events in the ceremony. Her minute by minute timeline of the wedding day helped as well! Finally, when the actual wedding day arrived, Shadé took control and got the wedding party from point A and B. She made sure my husband and I didn’t accidentally run into each other before our first look ceremony. When we were running behind on formal portraits in the ceremony area, Shadé ushered all early guests into the hall in the venue so we would have extra time to take pictures. After the ceremony, she ushered all guests to the cocktail hour and made sure they arrived to the reception event on time. Post-wedding feedback by the guests were that it was a beautiful and super-organized wedding. Having Shadé on hand meant that there was someone to handle the details (a professional who enjoys her job) and that I could enjoy my wedding day a lot more than I would have. Even my husband- who was skeptical of the wedding industry, including planners/coordinators all told me at the end of our wedding day that Shadé was a great investment!

Hiring Carla Friday was the best decision I made. I had never heard of a day of coordinator… after realizing I didn’t really need a wedding planner ( or could really afford one) someone mentioned a day of coordinator. I spoke with a few DOC’s, but Carla stuck out the most. She was the only DOC that started throwing out great ideas, and brainstorming about my visions. Even though she was a DOC, she sat down and talked to me like she was my best friend who was so excited to help me with the wedding in any way. We had a tented wedding at a vineyard ( so brought everything in from the tent, so chairs, to forks etc). Carla ran the show our entire wedding day- from greeting vendors and directing them where to go, what to do, etc, to setting up my decor and ensuring everything ran smoothly – she really did it all. If we needed to find a family member for pictures, or grab our flip flops, or move flowers… anything, she was our girl. I cant tell you how many times me, my mom or the bridesmaids would say, lets ask Carla, Carla can help, Carla will do it! You want to be able to enjoy your day and not worry about anything. She is the sole reason I was stress free on my wedding day- she worked from morning until night making sure everything was taken care of. If I can give any advice it would be to hire Carla- you are buying your way to a stress free, worry free, relaxed wedding day.. and to me that is priceless!

Shadé was so great to work with! She helped to make my wedding day so enjoyable and stress-free, and I had a WONDERFUL time knowing that all of the details were taken care of for me! I was a somewhat clueless bride with some of the details like ceremony/procession order, making a schedule for the day, etc., and luckily Shadé was there to help guide me through the process. We also had some seating issues at our reception (i.e., missing seating cards for a few guests), which she took care of immediately and which I actually didn’t even know about until I came back from the honeymoon. I would highly recommend working with her as she was nice, professional, competent, and hard-working, and really made me feel confident that my day would go off without a hitch, which it did!!!

Carla went above and beyond to make my day the best I could ever have hoped for! She dealt with the worst of situations with the greatest of ease and made the impossible, possible! My wedding was a difficult one with all sorts of elements being constantly thrown at us and Carla not only battled the elements and made everything come together perfectly, she made sure that I was sheltered from the storm…literally! I never felt any of the stress, she calmed my nerves and made sure that I was totally taken care of from start to finish. All of the many details were taken care of and managed beautifully. She even was able to have her own Father do our tent decorations when we had no one! My Father said that while the wedding was unstructured it was perfectly organized and felt as though it was always under control. I agree whole heartedly! I first called Carla after finding out that my venue’s even coordinator and team was not responsible for assembling or taking down the wedding decor. I found Carla on this site and called her in a panic. I was planning my wedding from another state and this had just added to the stress. She was so friendly and was so reassuring that things would be fine. After talking with Carla a few times, I decided to hire her as my day of coordinator. We kept in contact for the few months leading up to the wedding and she was always quick to respond and gave the best advice. You can tell she really loves what she does! As if that wasn’t enough, Carla did the most amazing job pulling together my wedding vision with just TWO hours of setup time! The venue let vendors in only two hours prior to the start of the ceremony and after hearing that, Carla didn’t even flinch. She assured me that I shouldn’t worry and that she would pull it together. When I walked into the venue and first saw the setup, I was extremely pleased to say the least! It looked better than I even imagined in my head-she knew exactly what I was looking for, even better than I did! The whole night went off without a hitch and I swear I couldn’t have done it without her! She was truly a miracle worker!

Shadé went above and beyond my expectations. She was extremely helpful from our first interaction up through the week of the wedding, checking in to make sure I was on track and providing helpful tidbits of information along the way. But where Shadé really made a HUGE impact was the day of the wedding. There were a few specific tasks – setting up place cards, indoor lighting – that I asked her to do and she did them perfectly. She even made a really creative and fun display with the place cards that people were raving about all night! In addition to these specific tasks, Shadé was there with me from the beginning of the day all the way through to the end of the night, helping with last minute reminders, coordinating with our vendors, and of course providing access to the emergency kit (which we used!). This saved my mom and me a ton of stress; we didn’t need to worry about a thing and could just enjoy the day. In addition to all of this, Shadé is helpful and easy to work with. I’m so glad she was there for our wedding!!

I cannot say enough amazing things about Carla and Details Made Simple. When I first met Carla, I was impressed with her professionalism and her desire to get to know me and my wedding. I always felt like Carla understood my vision and helped me execute it beyond my dreams. While I used her “day of coordination” service, what I received was well beyond that day.
Carla was available for pre-wedding phone calls and emails, and was constantly sending cute pins and Etsy posts that went along with my theme. Right before the wedding, she came to my home and picked up many of the supplies to transport to the venue. At the rehearsal, she was able to tame our rowdy crowd and make sure everyone was comfortable with their role.
I am normally a stressed out person. On my wedding day, however, I was calm and happy, and had so much fun. My mom, sisters, and bridesmaids were the same way. I attribute this to Carla and Details Made Simple. I was confident that she understood my vision, and she executed it beautifully. If there were any problems, I still don’t know about them. Thank you Carla for making my wedding wonderful!

I wholeheartedly recommend Carla and the Details Made Simple staff to any bride-to-be out there looking for assistance with wedding day coordination. I hired Carla as a “day-of” coordinator, but her services really went above and beyond just that day. I was in my final semester at grad school and planning a wedding from long-distance and Carla helped keep me sane throughout the process. She would email and check in on things, set up face to face meetings, coordinate with my vendors for me and really just tried to figure out any and every possible way to make my life easier. We had a very large wedding (350ppl!) and Carla offered to bring another wedding coordinator along to ease my nerves and both Carla and Shadé worked flawlessly together. What I loved most about working with her is that she is sincere in her efforts to make life easier for the bride. She actually offered to hand write my escort cards for me because she knew I was stressing about them. Even though I didn’t take her up on the offer (I would have felt too guilty!), I know she would have done so in a heartbeat. She is the kind of wedding coordinator that hands you her entire bag of cough drops because she knows that you are sick with a cough a few days before your wedding (which happened to me). She is extremely well organized and all of my anxiety about having the wedding run smoothly and avoiding any crazy wedding day catastrophes were put to rest, a large part because I had Carla by my side. She really gave me Peace of Mind the day of my wedding, which in my opinion, is priceless for any bride.

As an event planner myself I was looking for someone I could trust to make my wedding vision a reality. The best planning decision I made was hiring Carla Friday. My day was absolutely perfect and I owe it all to her. I was able to enjoy my wedding day the way a bride should because I knew that Carla was on site handling whatever was thrown her way. I couldn’t have EVER had such an amazing wedding if it wasn’t for Carla and her team at Details Made Simple. I knew I needed a day of planner when my fiance got called up to attend the police academy 3.5 months before our wedding and EVERYTHING was left to me. As the wedding grew closer panic set in. I knew I’d be able to get everything together, but who was going make sure everything was EXACTLY the way I wanted.
In stepped Details Made Simple! Carla, the owner, calmed me down, she assured me that every little detail would be executed perfectly, and it was. My hubby calls her my angel. We didn’t have to worry about a thing, and after a year and a half of planning, we deserved to enjoy ourselves, and we never would have if it wasn’t for them.
Carla came with me for walk throughs and acted as my stand in fiance’ since he was away and I truly don’t think I will ever be able to thank her enough.
