Details Made Simple is growing and we are so thrilled to share the big news with you! There has so much talk about when we are going to service areas other than just New Jersey, New York and Philly. Well, we are very excited to announce that as the business continues to grow and because of all the demand, we have expanded into the DC Metro Area!

Yassssssss Girl, we now offer wedding day coordinator services in DC, Maryland and Virginia! It seems so crazy to think back when DMS launched back in 2011 and just a little baby…that it would turn into what we are now – 6 years and over 300 weddings later. It’s so surreal to look back on all of the weddings and events we’ve had the honor of organize and coordinate.

The next natural progression was to open up in different wedding markets and spread the DMS love! SO here we are. We recently worked hard to form the best team of DMS Day of Wedding Coordinators around and we with think you are going to love them!

LET’S MEET THE NEW DC A-TEAM!

Brooke Watson Details Made Simple Wedding Day Coordinator

Brooke Watson – Has worked in the events industry for over 10 years and takes great pride in creating memorable and enjoyable experiences for her couples. What is neat about Miss Brooke is her Mom is a Wedding Planner, so naturally she grew up with a love for weddings. â€śI grew up seeing my Mom play such an important role in special moments in people’s lives and I wanted to do the same!”, Says Brooke.

Brooke is fun, charismatic, energetic and organized. She is on it! It feels like Brooke has worked for DMS for years already and she actually just booked our first DC wedding last week!

Fun fact that we learn about Brooke, she is a super couponer and it is so impressive! You have to see her go! Amazing.

Zaakira Harris Details Made Simple Wedding Day Coordinator

Zaakira Harris – Comes from the hospitality industry where she brings a wealth experience with working in the customer service side of things as well as the event side. Zaakira lives in the DC area and knows all the best and unique dc wedding venues in the area.

She has a love for making a couple day nothing short of amazing, and we love that! She is so organized, reliable and most importantly super sweet.

We are so excited to have such an amazing team of ladies working to make our DC brides and grooms wedding day the best day of their life. Each of the girls have the biggest passion for weddings and can’t wait to help you on your big day!

The Checklist Before The Checklist: 5 Things To Do Before You Really Start Wedding Planning

Wedding Check List_Details Made Simple_WeddingWire

As Wedding Coordinators, we know how essential it is to stay organized when planning a wedding, and one of the main ways we do that is with wedding checklists, timelines, to-do lists, and of course our tried-and-true traditional wedding binders!

Traditionally, timelines and to-do lists have been printable, one-size-fits-nobody documents that start after many things are already in motion and get stuffed away (and somehow lost) in those binders we mentioned. Thankfully, technology has done wonders for our organization skills, and many new-age wedding planning tools are developed with interactive capabilities for brides, grooms, and wedding planners to take full advantage of. This wedding checklist tool from WeddingWire, for example, uses your personal wedding information — your wedding date, progress so far, etc. — to generate a customized and super detailed to-do list.

Wedding Check List_Details Made Simple_WeddingWire

But what about the earliest of early details — before you have that wedding date, or really any idea of what you want your big day to look like? Enter: the checklist before the checklist.

Below is a list of some of the early things to start thinking about if you’re engaged or know you’ll likely be getting engaged soon (we know the best secrets are hard to keep!). This is basically a “take some time to daydream” checklist, or list of questions to ask yourself — you know, if you didn’t grow up fantasizing about every floral detail.

Talk With Your Fiance

This may seem obvious, but it’s too important to leave out like all the other wedding checklists do. All too often we hear brides sighing in frustration over their disengaged fiance, or the opposite where someone is shocked over how much their partner cares about certain things. This is why you should start everything with a conversation. Have some fun with it! Make it a date where you celebrate your upcoming journey, but where you also ask one another about your wants, needs, and preferred involvement in the entire process. This ensures that you start wedding planning as a team, but that you understand and respect the role you each will play going forward.

Of course, things change — so make this a reoccurring chat where you have frequent check-ins to keep communication open.

Get Realistic With Research

While we called this a daydream list, it’s more fun to fantasize within the realm of what’s possible. Start by digging into what weddings commonly cost on a high-level, including everything from favors to venues. These numbers will help you understand what’s realistic and what’s not, what things you’re willing to cut out all together, which things are must-haves no matter the cost, and also with the next item on this list.

Know Your Financial Personality

This is less fun than the others, but still important and more useful than being prompted to “choose your budget.” If you know a friend or family member would want to contribute heavily, are you comfortable having large expenses come out of someone else’s pocket? If you know you’re on your own, are you comfortable living with any added debt? Answering these questions honestly and right away will then guide every other decision you make, and how you’ll think about those choices in the first place.

Find Your Favorite Time of Year

Your wedding should be a representation of who you are, so think about which season brings you the most joy. Meditating on this fact will help you then decide other crucial details, like your actual wedding date and whether or not you want an indoor or outdoor venue.

If you come alive in the summer, for example, you’ll need to figure out if you’re willing to risk the chance of getting caught in the rain at an outdoor celebration. It seems like we’ve gotten worse than ever at predicting the weather, but tools like Weather Planner try their best to help with picking dates far in advance and could be worth checking out.

Focus On The Feeling

This may seem silly, but we promise it’s worth trying out. This is kind of like a meditation and vision board exercise in one. At some point, you should sit quietly with yourself and close your eyes and without thinking of anything else, just picture your perfect wedding day. What do you notice first? What does it feel like? Let the images play out in your mind for at least 5 minutes, and then write it all down on a piece of paper or create a Pinterest board even. Hopefully you’ll have a mix of things, from the people you really love to certain colors or moods, like lightheartedness or serenity.

This piece of paper is now the physical embodiment of “the big picture” that you need to remember and revisit often whenever you feel like you’re getting wrapped up in minute details that really don’t matter, which happens to the best of us. But at least this way, you’ll remember where your planning all started and what you’re truly working towards.

And Hey – Remember, having a Wedding Coordinator by your side will make the wedding planning process that much easier. We will guide you through all these wedding checklists, make sure you are on track all while keeping you and the hubby stress-free. Let’s face it, wedding planning can be hectic and not easy – but is still should be fun! XOXO

Guest Post: 5 Fruitful Seeds to Plant for an Abundant Marriage

pexels-photo-40525

WOW!! The seasons are changing and we are upon the beauty of autumn once again. This is the season for reflection as it also reminds us that the end of another year is right in front of us. I love to see the plentiful fruits and vegetables that are harvested in the fall. I think about the farmers who planned, planted and nurtured their crops all through the spring and summer to now enjoy the fruits of their labor that will sustain them through the winter and beyond. Much like the farmer, we need to plan, plant and nurture our marriages to reap our own joyous harvests. Here are 5 fruitful seeds to plant for your own abundant marriage.

  1. Plan your planting season  No one is rushing you to get married but you. You have a strong voice in when you get married. No, you cannot bring your husband right when you think you want him, but trust that when he comes it is the best time. From that point it is up to you to say what timing is best. Be sure that your soil (your heart) is fertilized and able to receive plenty of water (mentors) and sunlight (education).
  2. Know your crop  If you handle number one properly, knowing your crop (your mate) will flow. The man you dated and the man you were engaged to will continue to grow and evolve as your husband. Pay attention to his growth patterns. Notice the changes in his thoughts and his health so you can be prepared to add some extra food (encouragement and compliments), vitamins (quality time) and maybe even a plant stabilizer (taking on extra chores and responsibilities) for extra support.
  3. Stop hating on your neighbors corn field when you plant pumpkin seeds  Did you follow step number two? You must know your crop in order to appreciate the fruit it bears. There are other men who will be the same age, have the same career and be with his woman for the same length of time as your man, but they are still two different men with two different journeys. Yes, farming (aka marriage) can be laborious, tiresome and annoying, but you chose to be a farmer and you picked the seeds (aka your mate). Be patient and know that the right amount love and nurturing will strengthen your relationship in due season. Would you induce labor at 5 months because you’re tired of being pregnant?
  4. Who are your field hands? It’s ok. As we mentioned in step three, marriage can be tiresome. You are entitled to your true feelings. What is important is how you respond to those feelings. How do you release your tension and clear your mind? We all need strong and loyal confidantes in our corner. Having one or two close girlfriends or a family member to confide in is ok. You may even need to involve HIS closest friend or family member to step in and have a conversation when appropriate. Just be certain that you go back to him when you’re in a calm state to address the issues so you can keep the weeds and beetles from destroying what you’ve created.
  5. Share your harvest!! One of the great things about marriage is being able to share it with the world. I love seeing genuinely happy couples having a private loving moment or laughing infectiously with each other. It is also a great benefit to share stories of what you’ve overcome with another couple that is going through a dry season. Be mindful of sharing while you’re still going through. If they aren’t your field hands, they don’t belong in your crop. They can meet you at the farmer’s market with the rest of the world!

As you grow and think like a farmer, you will reap the rewards of the farmer. Trust that every great thing takes time to develop. Learn through the process and watch your harvest increase with each passing year.

Guest Post: Plan the Perfect Honeymoon with Honeyfund

HoneyfundxDetailsMadeSimple

Marrying your better half is the first step in starting a beautiful life together. As a couple, embarking on this journey will have its ups and downs, but you’ll know if you are right for one another before you step foot on the altar on your big day.

This courageous journey is exciting to say the least. And the adventure begins on the glorious honeymoon vacation that you’ll take soon after you recite your vows during the marriage ceremony.

Paying for a wedding is an expensive proposition. In order to have the wedding of your dreams, you took every chance that you had to raise capital or save money so that your big day would be perfect when the time came. You should put forth the same amount of effort to raise funds for your honeymoon.

Your honeymoon is important because it’s the first thing you’ll do together as a married couple. So you want this happy occasion to be perfect!

How can you make it perfect? Honeyfund, the crowdfunding website dedicated to help happy couples raise funds for honeymoon bliss, is an extremely popular way to receive money needed to pay for the perfect trip. It’s the whole reason why the website was created in the first place.

Honeyfund x DetailsMadeSimple

Honeyfund’s Humble Beginnings

Although this website is finally starting to catch the public’s attention, most people still have never heard of this dynamic honeymoon registry. And that’s a shame because it’s changing the way that we receive wedding gifts for the better.

The founders of this website created it originally because they didn’t have enough money to go on their dream honeymoon. Instead of having a less than satisfactory experience during this momentum occasion, Sara and Josh Margulis decided to take matters into their own hands. Before long, they set up a honeymoon registry that helped soon to be married couples like themselves receive “sponsorships” in lieu of traditional gifts. And this allowed them to get the money to pay for their dream honeymoon.

For one reason or another, couples are often hesitant to ask for “sponsorships” on this honeymoon registry. Some just aren’t that familiar with crowdfunding. Others feel that they shouldn’t receive money instead of traditional wedding gifts.

Do you need money to pay for your honeymoon? Try Honeyfund today and experience the same benefits as thousands of others in your shoes.

Is Honeyfund the Best Honeymoon Registry to Meet My Crowdfunding Needs?

We can’t think of a better honeymoon registry besides Honeyfund. This site is perfect because it lets you use its platform for free. It’s unique and has many wonderful features. Our favorite is the honeymoon itinerary planner. It lets you add specific activities to your crowdfunding page. And then your guests can make donations based on the activities that they would like to pay for.

Plumfund x DetailsMadeSimple

Other Crowdfunding Benefits

If you intend to raise funds for other important milestones during your marriage, we recommend using the Honeyfund sister site called Plumfund.

There are many ways to take advantage of crowdfunding. For married couples, here are a few of our favorites:

  • pay off student loans
  • raise money for a down payment on a new home
  • pay off outstanding credit card debt
  • raise money for in vitro fertilization

Are you ready to take the perfect honeymoon vacation? Honeyfund will help make your dreams a reality.

Details Made Simple's 3rd Anniversary!

3rd bday graphic

It was three years ago today when I sitting in my living room thinking, there has to be a way to help brides and groom make there big day completely stress-free and amazing. Three years ago today I thought about how with all my skills and passion for love, I can definitely do something about this and Details Made Simple was born!

It’s been a long road to build such a unique company to what it is today, but we would be nothing if it wasn’t for all our amazing brides throughout the years. Every single one of them has changed our lives, one wedding at a time, in some way or another and for that we are eternally grateful.

I look look forward to providing the best services in the tri-state area and still being one the New Jersey’s top wedding vendors!

WE LOVE YOU!
